When You Visit
We know that many people are hesitant to attend worship services at an unfamiliar church. To help alleviate any apprehensions you may have regarding our congregation, we would like for you to know what you can expect from us when you visit.
Courtesy, Kindness and Family Oriented
We truly welcome you as our honored guest. Expect our members to be warm and friendly, whatever your background. We are here to share with you the message of God's Word, and we do it with joy.
In an age where family values are decaying, it is refreshing to know that there is a group of people who believe strongly in good, moral family values. We are confident that you will find among us a group of Christians who believe families can break out of the mold that the world offers, and turn to the Architect of the family, God, for guidance. Your family is among the most precious possessions you have; its value is paramount with us also.
We know that God has given us "all things that pertain to life and godliness" (2 Peter 1:3). We believe that knowledge we receive from the Bible will equip us for "every good work" (2 Timothy 2: 18-17). We welcome you to join us in building our lives in the "Rock of Ages."
Our Worship Services
At 10:25 a.m. each Lord's Day (Sunday), we assemble for a period of worship to God. During this worship service we sing songs of praise to God, observe the Lord's supper, make a voluntary offering to support the work of the church, pray, and hear a sermon from the Bible.
On Sunday evenings at 6:00 p.m., we assemble for a period of worship in songs, prayers and preaching from God's Word. The first Sunday of each month is set aside for a service of song, often accompanied by prayers and scripture readings.
Our Bible Classes
Each Lord's Day we meet at 9:30 a.m. for a period of Bible Study. We have classes for every age group. On Wednesday evenings our Bible Study begins at 7:00 p.m. Most of our classes are taught consecutively on Sunday and Wednesday with new topics each quarter. Our new curriculum for school-age children is Our Spiritual Heritage.
Personal Bible Study
We would be happy to study the Bible with you in your home or anywhere that is convenient to you. Please contact one of our elders, deacons, or evangelists.
Some frequently asked questions about the church of Christ:
1. Aren't you just a denomination?
2. What is your creed?
3. What is your faith?
4. What must I do to be saved?
5. What does it mean to be a Christian?
Aren't you just a denomination?
No. We are a non-denominational church because we believe denominationalism is a product of the teaching of men, not the teaching of the New Testament. As used in the Bible, the word "church" has only two uses. The first use is in regards to all Christians, whether they are in the past, the present, or the future. You can see this usage in verses such as Matthew 16:18, where we read that Christ would build His church. The second usage of church is when referring to a local congregation of Christians. Examples include "the churches of Galatia" (Galatians 1:2). When we refer to ourselves as the Concord church of Christ, we are stating that we are a local congregation of Christians. We belong to Christ, nothing more and nothing less. As you travel around the world, you'll find many such groups.
What is your creed?
The standard by which we measure all things is simple, yet profound. We do realize that most everyone has some opinion on everything, but the only standard that matters in religion is what God tells us to do. Therefore, we follow the Bible alone, not creed books, confessions of faith, or some "main office."
What is your faith?
Ephesians 4:4-6: There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.
Paul said there is "one faith." Doesn't that strike you as interesting in light of many "faiths" that we see in the religious world today? When Paul and other apostles went out preaching the Word, they preached one faith--- the same everywhere in every church (1 Corinthians 4:17). So why are there so many different religious beliefs today? The answer is that man has attempted to change the gospel recorded in the New Testament. But doesn't it make sense to simply follow the original faith, the "one faith" that is revealed in the New Testament?
What must I do to be saved?
You can be just a Christian who serves the Lord without belonging to any denomination or subscribing to any creed but the Bible. Just follow the Bible---believe in the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 10:9-10), repent of your sins, (Acts 2:38), confess Jesus as the Christ, (Acts 8:37), be baptized for the forgiveness of your sins, (Acts 22:16) and you will be "born again" into God's family. As a child of God you will be committed to continue in obedience to God's word--demonstrating your love for and faith in God and His Son (John 14:15; James 2:14-26).
What does it mean to be a Christian?
1. To be born again into the family of God. (John 3:3-5; Matthew 28:18-20)
2. To grow and mature into the image of Christ. (2 Peter 3:18; Luke 6:40)
3. To love those in your spiritual family. (1 Peter 3:22; John 13:34-35)
4. To find your special service in the body of Christ. (1 Peter 4:10)
5. To be equipped to share the good news of your salvation. (Acts 8:4)
6. To worship and glorify God in His Son. (John 4:24; Ephesians 3:21)
7. To love and serve your fellowman. (Matthew 22: 34-40; Galatians 6:10)
8. To be faithful to God until death. (Revelation 2:10)
